HOW TO MEASURE, TIPS and INFORMATION
BUST
Tips: It’s best if you wear the undergarment you’ll be wearing the day of the wedding or one that is very close to it, if you don’t have it yet, for a more accurate measurement and fit. Make sure you don’t measure under the bust. This measurement is vital to any gown.
How To: You measure around the fullest part of the bust and the widest part of the back.
Waist
Tips: Allow some room for any possible weight gain, if your weight tends to fluctuate. You want to be comfortable wearing the dress.
How To: You measure around the natural waistline at the smallest/narrowest point.
Hips
Tips: This measurement is important only if your hips might be comparatively larger than the other two measurements, that it would require a dress size several sizes larger or if the style of the gown is straight or more form fitting.
How To: You measure around the fullest part of the hip.
Length
Tips: Don’t forget to consider the heel height of the shoes you’ll be wearing and the height of the groomsman that you’ll be with.
The length for a gown varies from designer/manufacturer to designer/manufacturer.
The average length is for someone that is 5’7" to 5’8". Anyone over these heights might need to consider extra length. The majority of bridal and bridesmaids gowns do come in extra length. Manufacturers do charge for extra length.
Extra Sizes
Sizes above 16 are considered as an extra size by most manufacturers and do charge extra.
Sizing Information
When choosing your size for gowns it is essential to make sure your measurements are done correctly. I can assist and advise you in this area, but I cannot select your size. The final decision regarding size is yours, the customer.
It is very important to keep in mind that although the gowns are cut to order, they are not custom made to your personal measurements. They are cut to the manufacturers specifications. It’s best to order the gown to fit the largest part of your body. You can always alter the gown to a smaller size but not to a larger size. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND SIZES CANNOT BE CHANGED ONCE THE ORDER HAS BEEN PLACED.
